この度、グループ企業の株式会社ウェルウッドが総合企画をし、弊社と株式会社日本エスコン様が、長野県北佐久郡軽井沢町において共同開発致しました『オストレジデンス軽井沢』が、この度 2022 年度グッドデザイン賞(主催:公益財団法人日本デザイン振興会)を受賞いたしましたので下記の通りお知らせいたします。

1. 審査員コメント
軽井沢の 15,000m2超という広大な敷地に建つ、2 棟のレジデンスである。低層に抑えられた建 物外観は、
傾斜をつけた庇によりシャープな水平ラインが強調され、環境に溶け込んでいる。
「静謐さ」や「心の安らぎ」を感じさせるデザインは、建物内外だけなく外構計画にも表れ、日本原 産の植栽が魅力的な庭を造っている。
新たに植樹された 300 本の植木や浅間石が、年月を経て周 囲の環境に溶け込んでいった時、さらにこの建物の価値が高まるであろう。その上質で普遍的な デザインが高く評価された。

2. 物件の特徴
当該物件は、軽井沢の深々とした森に囲まれ雄大な浅間山を一望できる場所に位置し、自然の 豊かさや四季の移ろいを感じる事の出来るロケーションです。

Notice on Øst Residence Karuizawa Receiving the Good Design Award 2022

We are pleased to announce that Øst Residence Karuizawa, a project planned by our group company Wellwood Limited and jointly developed in Karuizawa, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, by ES-CON JAPAN Ltd. and us, has been awarded the Good Design Award 2022, organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.

1. Jury Comments
This project comprises two residential buildings situated on an expansive site of over 15,000 square meters in Karuizawa. The low-profile architecture features sharply defined horizontal lines created by the sloped eaves, allowing the buildings to blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
Its design evokes a deep sense of serenity and emotional comfort, expressed not only through the architecture itself but also through the landscape planning. Japanese native plantings shape an alluring garden, while the 300 newly planted trees and Asama stones will, in time, further integrate with the natural surroundings—enhancing the value of the residence as the years pass.
The project was highly commended for its refined and timeless design qualities.

2. Property Features
The residence is situated in a location surrounded by the deep forests of Karuizawa, offering expansive views of the majestic Mount Asama and allowing residents to fully experience the richness of nature and the changing seasons.
Utilizing a generous site of over 15,000 m²,* the master plan features two buildings, A and B, arranged to create a sense of openness and spatial comfort.

Inspired by the concept of komorebi—the gentle interplay of light and shadow filtering through the trees—the spatial design incorporates traditional Japanese elements such as extended eaves and engawa, complemented by floor-to-ceiling windows in the entrance area. Blending Scandinavian sensibilities with neutral tones and natural materials, the interiors were crafted to harmonize softly with the surrounding landscape.

Furthermore, “The ØST Clubhouse,” designed as a place for residents and guests to gather and connect, offers a range of thoughtfully curated shared spaces. These include the Garden Terrace for barbecues and outdoor enjoyment, a Chef’s Kitchen, and a Library Lounge—creating an elegant environment where residents can share special moments with family and friends.
